Getting your kitten home

Handover arrangements are discussed and confirmed before your kitten is scheduled to leave Kittens Boutique. Depending on your location, you may collect your kitten in person or arrange an available delivery option.

We want the journey home to be appropriate for the individual kitten, so transportation is planned around the kitten's readiness, destination and the travel options available at the time.

Local pickup

Local pickup is available by appointment. Your pickup date, time and location should be confirmed with us before you make the trip.

Picking up your kitten in person also gives you an opportunity to ask any final questions, go over care information and make sure you're comfortable before beginning the journey home.

Please arrive at the agreed time and let us know as soon as possible if your plans change. Unless we have made another arrangement with you, bring a clean, secure and appropriately sized carrier for the journey.

Nationwide delivery

If collecting your kitten isn't practical, nationwide delivery may be arranged depending on your destination and transportation availability.

Depending on the route and circumstances, transportation may include:

• professional pet transportation services;
• dedicated ground delivery; or
• flight nanny or cabin travel when available.

The transportation method is selected with the kitten's safety and comfort in mind. We will discuss the available option with you before travel arrangements are finalized.

When is a kitten ready to travel?

A kitten's departure isn't based on the calendar alone. We want each kitten to be ready for the journey before leaving our care.

Before being cleared for travel, kittens should meet the appropriate age and development requirements, be fully weaned and eating independently, and be comfortable with normal household handling and routines.

Kittens traveling to their new homes are also cleared for travel by a licensed veterinarian.

Delivery costs

There isn't one delivery price that works for every home. Transportation costs can vary according to the destination, travel distance, transportation method and availability at the time of booking.

Any applicable delivery fee will be discussed with you and confirmed before the transportation arrangement is finalized.

Delivery arrangements are scheduled once the required payment arrangements for the kitten and transportation have been completed.

Preparing your kitten for the journey

Before departure, we prepare your kitten with their comfort and safety during travel in mind.

Depending on the transportation method and individual journey, preparation may include:

• a final veterinary health check before travel;
• a clean and secure travel carrier appropriate for the journey;
• appropriate food and hydration before departure; and
• health records and relevant care information for the new family.

Once the travel plan has been confirmed, we'll also provide the important departure, arrival and handover information you need to receive your kitten.

Make sure we have the right details

Accurate information matters when coordinating a live animal's journey. Please make sure the details you provide are current before pickup or delivery is scheduled.

We may need:

• your full name;
• a current telephone number and email address;
• your pickup or delivery location;
• the name of the person receiving the kitten; and
• any additional information required for the chosen transport method.

If your phone number, address or receiving arrangements change, please tell us before your kitten begins the journey.

Weather, delays & changes

Sometimes the safest travel plan is to wait. Severe weather, transportation disruption or another condition that could compromise a kitten's comfort or safety may require a delivery to be postponed.

Travel may also be delayed if a veterinarian recommends that the kitten should not travel as scheduled.

If plans need to change, we'll communicate with you and work toward a new travel date as soon as it is appropriate to do so. Once a journey is underway, we'll keep you informed of important updates concerning departure and expected arrival.

When your kitten arrives

Please make sure you or the agreed recipient is available at the scheduled pickup or delivery time. Once your kitten is handed over, keeping them secure and comfortable becomes your responsibility.

At home, start small. Have a quiet, safe room prepared with fresh water, suitable food, a clean litter box, a comfortable sleeping area and somewhere the kitten can retreat while adjusting.

Rather than introducing the entire home immediately, allow your kitten time to become comfortable with the new sights, smells and people around them.

New owners should also arrange a wellness examination with a licensed veterinarian within 7 days of the kitten's arrival.
