Frequently Asked Questions
Questions are normal. Bringing home a kitten is a big deal.
From choosing a breed to reserving a kitten and preparing for homecoming, here are answers to the questions families ask us most.
Choosing a kitten
Breed, personality and household fit all matter when deciding which kitten is right for you.
Start with your lifestyle rather than coat color alone. Consider how active you want your cat to be, how much grooming you're comfortable with, whether you have children or other pets, and how much interaction you want from your cat.
Once you've found a kitten you like, ask us about their individual personality. Breed characteristics are helpful, but every kitten is still an individual.
Kittens Boutique raises six breeds: Bengal, Maine Coon, Persian, Ragdoll, Sphynx and Devon Rex.
You can learn more about each breed on our individual breed pages before deciding which one best matches your home.
Yes. Tell us what you're looking for in a companion and what your household is like. We can talk through differences in activity, grooming, temperament and everyday care.
Yes. Our kittens are home raised and grow up around normal household activity, people and regular handling.
We've been raising kittens since 2010, and spending time around them also gives us a chance to notice their individual personalities as they develop.
Visit our Available Kittens page. Availability can change, so contact us about the specific kitten you're interested in before making plans.
Reservations & payments
What happens once you've found the kitten you don't want someone else to take home.
Contact us first to confirm that the kitten is still available. We'll then provide the applicable reservation instructions and terms.
A kitten isn't considered reserved simply because an inquiry was sent.
No. An inquiry lets us know you're interested, but the kitten is only considered reserved once the reservation requirements provided for that kitten have been completed and confirmed.
Reservation and payment details will be provided for the specific kitten. Make sure the amount, purpose of the payment, and applicable terms are clear before sending funds.
Refund eligibility depends on the written reservation terms provided for the specific purchase.
Please read our Refunds & Cancellations Policy and the specific terms you receive before making payment.
Website information can change. Always confirm the current price and purchase terms for the kitten you're interested in before completing a reservation.
Health & everyday care
What to know about veterinary care, feeding and keeping your kitten comfortable once they're yours.
We provide the relevant health information available for the individual kitten as part of the purchase and handover process.
Ask us if you have questions about the information provided for a particular kitten.
Any health guarantee applicable to a kitten is governed by the specific written terms provided with that purchase.
Read our Health Guarantee & Care Policy for general information.
Establishing care with a qualified veterinarian is an important part of responsible kitten ownership.
Follow any veterinary examination requirements contained in the specific purchase or health guarantee terms provided for your kitten.
Sudden diet changes can upset a kitten's stomach. It's usually easier to begin with the food they're already accustomed to and make changes gradually if needed.
Your veterinarian can advise you about appropriate nutrition.
Very much so. A Persian or Maine Coon has different coat-care needs from a Bengal, while a Sphynx has skin-care needs that are different again.
Check the individual breed page and ask us about the routine your kitten is already familiar with.
Pickup & delivery
Getting the kitten from our home to yours.
Delivery availability depends on the buyer's location, timing and the arrangements available for the kitten.
Contact us to discuss your location before assuming delivery is available or included in the kitten's price.
Do not assume that delivery is included unless this has been specifically confirmed for your purchase.
Any applicable transport or delivery costs should be agreed before payment.
Unless another arrangement has been confirmed, bring a secure, appropriately sized cat carrier.
It should remain closed and secure throughout the journey home.
Let us know as soon as possible. Sometimes timing can change because of circumstances affecting the buyer, transport, or the kitten itself.
Read our Delivery & Pickup Policy for more information.
After your kitten comes home
The door closes, the carrier opens, and suddenly you have a tiny new roommate.
Have food, water bowls, litter and litter trays, a secure carrier, scratching surfaces, safe toys and a comfortable place to rest.
It's also a good idea to prepare one quiet room where the kitten can settle before exploring the rest of the house.
Giving a kitten a smaller, quiet area at first can make the transition less overwhelming.
As your kitten becomes comfortable, you can gradually introduce more of the home.
A new home contains unfamiliar people, smells and sounds. Some kittens explore immediately while others need more time.
Give the kitten somewhere safe to hide and avoid forcing interaction. Let confidence build at the kitten's pace.
Yes. Questions don't suddenly stop on homecoming day. You're welcome to contact us if you have questions about the kitten's previous routine or transition.
Medical concerns should always be discussed with a qualified veterinarian.
